Planning Applications 2023

Making a planning application is important stage in the majority of the projects that McKevitt King Architects are involved with. Generally, planning permission is required for any development of land or property unless the development is specifically exempted from this need. Development includes the carrying out of works (building, demolition, alteration) on land or buildings and the making of a material (i.e. significant) change of use of land or buildings. Since January 2023 we have lodged 47 planning applications with various County Councils, with 40 of these applications being granted, 1 application refused, and we are awaiting a decision on the remaining 6 lodged applications That is effectively one planning application being processed and lodged per week. The bulk of our applications are to Louth Co.Co. and Meath Co.Co., but last year we also made applications further afield, in Waterford, Mayo, Roscommon, and Cavan. With both Louth, Meath and other County Councils now utilising the e-planning system, we are now able to lodge a planning application on-line in PDF format. We hope that the remaining Local Authorities will follow suit in the near future, further streamlining the whole process.
