VISIT TO LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOL for Engineers Week 2023

We were invited into St. Brigid's and St. Patrick's National School for Engineer’s week, where Adrian visited senior infants and 4th classes. We spoke about design and materials used in construction and the different engineers that work with architects on the design team. The boys and girls were very engaged, and some very interesting questions were asked. The senior infants examined materials we brought into the classroom and then designed their own houses. They also discussed the Three Little Pigs and why two of them were not very good engineers. The 4th class children used cocktail sticks and fruit pastilles to create simple structures. Thank you to Ms. Troy for inviting us back again this year. It’s fair to say Drogheda’s future engineering prospects looks good.

Engineers Week is an annual event that takes place in Ireland. The event is organised by STEPS Engineers Ireland, the professional body for engineers in Ireland, and it aims to celebrate engineering and inspire the next generation of engineers.

During Engineers Week, there are a wide range of events and activities that take place across the country. These include workshops, talks, site visits, and engineering challenges for both primary and secondary school students. The events are designed to be interactive and engaging, giving students and the general public a chance to learn more about engineering and its many applications.

Some of the most popular events during Engineers Week include the "Engineer Your Future" workshops, which are aimed at secondary school students and focus on a range of engineering topics, such as energy, water, and sustainability. There are also "Family Fun Days" which are open to the general public and give families a chance to explore engineering through hands-on activities and experiments.

In addition to these events, there are also seminars and conferences for engineering professionals, where they can share their knowledge and expertise with their peers.

Overall, Engineers Week is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the importance of engineering to society and inspire the next generation of engineers.
