The practice was originally set up in 1972 by Turlough McKevitt in partnership with Bernard O’Reilly, practicing on Laurence Street under the title ‘McKevitt O’Reilly’. Sadly Bernard passed away due to a tragic boating accident in their very first year in business. The practice name changed to ‘T McKevitt Architect’ and relocated to Magdalene Street, all the time building its reputation and expanding its client base. In 1978 the office moved to its current location on the North Road. Briefly titled ‘McKevitt Associates’ in the 1990s, the practice became ‘McKevitt Architects’ in 1997 and was led by Turlough and James McKevitt. In 2019 Adrian King became a director and the practice was reborn as ‘McKevitt King Architects’. With James McKevitt MRIAI and Adrian King MRIAI now leading the practice, they are backed up with the vast experience of Turlough McKevitt FRIAI and Jim MacArdle MCIAT. In addition to this, they are supported by associates Dyanne Tuite MRIAI, Emma Kennedy MRIAI Arch. Tech., Eoin O'Donnell MRIAI and an experienced team within the office.
