The unique topography and context of this site inspired a reinterpretation of the vernacular style, reimagining Irish coastal design to create a contemporary family home. The concept of

focused views in a woodland setting also became a strong driver in the development of the design generating an idea of a split-level house, neatly stepping down the landscape. The proposed dwelling, along with a proposed garage/carport is arranged in four separate interconnected blocks to create a modern-day cluster which respects its setting, context and tradition.

To make the best possible use of the available views, the living accommodation has been elevated to the first-floor level whilst the sleeping quarters are tucked neatly underneath at first floor level. Large, glazed elements at first floor pull in the views across the landscape as well as maximizing the available sun path.
