The team at McKevitt King Architects recently took part in an informative CPD session with SSQ Group, specialists in natural slate and architectural stone.
The RIBA-approved “Why Specify Slate?” CPD provided a useful overview of natural slate and its application across contemporary, traditional and heritage projects. The session covered a range of topics including slate specification, quality standards, fixing methods, low-pitch and random coursed roofing, as well as some of the common issues to consider when selecting natural slate.
We also explored the environmental benefits of natural slate, relevant specification requirements and how the correct choice of slate can contribute to both the long-term performance and appearance of a building.
