RIAI Annual Conference 2026

October 13, 2026

James, Adrian and Eoin attended the annual RIAI Conference in October, joining architects and built environment professionals for two days of discussion, learning and exchange. Held at the RDS in Dublin and online, the conference explored the theme Architecture for the Common Good, placing architecture’s contribution to society, the economy and culture at the centre of the programme.

Chosen by RIAI President Fionnuala May, the theme encouraged reflection on the responsibilities and opportunities of architectural practice. Irish and international speakers examined how architects could influence decisions at every level, from policy, governance and leadership to the design and delivery of housing, public buildings, shared spaces and sustainable transport.

The programme provided an opportunity to consider how individual projects contribute to wider community needs. It explored the relationship between design quality and public benefit, encouraging discussion about the places we create and the long-term value they offer to the people who use them.

The conference also celebrated emerging talent through its Rising Stars session, featuring projects by the winners of the RIAI Emerging and Student Awards. Alongside the conference, the Architecture + Building Expo and an exhibition of work from Ireland’s schools of architecture offered further opportunities to explore ideas and approaches from across the profession.

For McKevitt King, attendance provided an opportunity to engage with these discussions and connect with colleagues from across the architectural community. Their participation formed part of our continued commitment to professional development and to considering how our work could contribute positively to the communities we serve.
