We recently had the pleasure of photographing one of our finished projects in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
A strong bold feature wall and front door gives this house presence in the established mature suburban housing development. The yellow front door set in a dark grey wall defines the entrance. A beautiful contemporary expression using contrasting colours and trimmed with pressed metal, the front elevation sits comfortably in its surrounding context but makes its own special statement. This clean contemporary look carries through into the house, where the original internal layout has been completely re-thought on the ground floor. A large bright open-plan space has been created to the rear half of the ground floor, containing the kitchen, dining & living. The rear wall has been replaced by continuous glazing encompassing two large sliding doors which connect inside with outside. Attention to detail sees a beautiful oak floor to ceiling stair balustrade, picked up again in some of the kitchen panelling. A large hidden pocket sliding door connects the open plan area with the sitting room to the front of the house – when opened can create an even larger flowing space and dual aspect. The first floor has also been re-designed, to enhance the practical use of the house. Tastefully finished and furnished throughout, this is a family home for the ages. The magnolia tree in the front garden was protected through the renovation works, complements the house and remains as a landmark on the street.
