
Making a planning application plays an important role in the majority of projects carried out here at McKevitt King Architects. In general, planning permission is required for any development of land or property unless the development is specifically exempt. Development can include the carrying out of works such as building, demolition or alteration, as well as making a material (i.e. significant) change of use to land or buildings.
Throughout 2025, we have lodged 38 planning applications with our local County Councils. Of these, 26 applications have been granted, one has been refused, and we are currently awaiting decisions on the remaining 11 applications. This equates to almost one planning application being prepared and lodged every week. With many councils now operating an e-planning system, applications can be submitted in PDF format, helping to streamline the process. We hope all Local Authorities will follow suit in the near future, further improving efficiency across the planning system.
