We have recently been appointed by a local consortium to undertake a feasibility study for a new community hub in Drogheda. As part of our research for the project we recently visited Darndale Belcamp Village Centre in Dublin. Belcamp is an integrated set of buildings with open public spaces that provides accommodation and facilities for a number of statutory and community service providers for the local community.
The design is an excellent response to the social, economic and urban challenges posed by the context. It received the RIAI Award for Best Contribution to Urban Design in 2002.
